St. Odilia's Religious Education
Program
Lupita Parra has been a lifelong resident of Tucson and joins the St. Odilia staff as Director of Religious Education. Lupita comes to St. Odilia after working at Santa Catalina Parish, where she was a Youth Minister for Grades 9-12 for seven years before advancing to Director of Religious Education working with Grades K-12 for the last two years.
Lupita began her work teaching Religious Education at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, where she was Jr. High Coordinator for four years. Prior to teaching at St. Elizabeth's, she was the Youth Minister for grades 7-12 at Most Holy Trinity for seven years.
Throughout her ministry, Lupita’s love and devotion is working with families and children. While working with children K-6, she was inspired to create a parent group called Parent Hour. Lupita has distinguished herself as a leader, mentor, and team member through her successful interviewing, recruiting, and training of volunteers wanting to work with the religious formation of children, grades K through 12. Lupita’s love for music has led her to volunteer, at times, for the Choir where she engages children and youth in prayer through joyful music.
Lupita is a mother of two adults and has three grandsons.

Welcome to Faith Formation 2021-2022. We seek to include all students, parents, and the whole family. Our goal is to help all grow in their relationship with God, deepen spiritual life and practices. So all of us can live as disciples of Jesus at home, at work, in the community, and in the world. We want to help you grow and develop an understanding of the Bible and its faith traditions. Engage in service and mission and participate in the life and ministries of our faith community. Now you might wonder what next?
Rebuild, Reorganize and Reignite
Sunday Faith Formation pre-k through 6th grade will continue using Catholic Brain. Our classes begin at 9:30 and end at 10:30. Due to the rising number of children getting Covid19, we will use zoom for the first semester. It’s important to us to keep all safe and as Director, I feel this is the best we can do. However, we are offering once a month in person. This day will be family-oriented and called Parish Day. More information to come regarding Parish Day.
Jr. Samaritans are for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. What is a Samaritan: a charitable or helpful person (with reference to Luke 10:33). Taking this name means they want to be charitable and serve others. This group will focus on charity and serving others. The Sunday morning sessions will be educational, spiritual, and service-oriented. They will help with the once-a-month Parish Day. We welcome all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to join us. The regular gathering time is 9:15 to 10:45 am.
Life Teen is for all high school students grades 9th through 12th. The Mass is the center of our faith, so we encourage all teens to attend Mass weekly. Life Night is Sunday evenings at 6:30 pm and gather to share faith, fellowship, and learn about Jesus Christ and His Church. This group ends at 8:30 pm. Our Confirmation program is part of the Life Teen and the students requesting confirmation need at least one year of life teen.
XLT is held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. We can carpool or meet you there. The prayer group is via zoom and for those students looking for a boost on Wednesday night.
We are always recruiting for Faith Formation. Do you know what your gifts are, and do you want to grow in Faith Formation? We are asking parents to be part of Faith Formation for the new school year. To consider a leadership role for Faith Formation some of the areas we need are Catechist, Assistant Catechist, Office help, Media Help, and more. Please contact Susanna, have coffee, and chat to see where God is calling you.

Even in a Pandemic, St. Odilia Youth Make a Difference.
Our Life Teen Program made sandwiches for Casa Maria. Jr. Samaritans made pies and sold them to make a donation to Stand Up for Kids. The K through 8th program made Christmas ornaments and cards for the Priest to distribute as they took communion to the homebound. Service is an important part of living our faith and St. Odilia Youth still got the opportunity to help others.
